Get Started using ONT-TAXS online: Complete the Contact Information Form

Attention: Signing Officer, Director, Partner or Sole Proprietor.

ONT-TAXS online is Ontario's secure, convenient and free online tax service for businesses. Getting started with ONT-TAXS online is fast and easy. The first step is to complete this form and appoint your ONT-TAXS online Administrator. Then, the ministry will mail the two pieces of enrolment information your business needs to start using ONT-TAXS online.

Your business must have a Business Number to use this form. If you do not have a Business Number, please contact the ministry at 1 866 ONT-TAXS (1 866 668-8297).



About your ONT-TAXS online Administrator

An ONT-TAXS online Administrator is the individual in your business responsible for managing ONT-TAXS online. You can provide the ministry with your contact information to become the Administrator, or you can appoint an individual to be your Administrator and use ONT-TAXS online on behalf of your organization. The Administrator information must be authorized by you as a signing officer, director, partner, or sole proprietor of your organization.

The role of your ONT-TAXS online Administrator

Your ONT-TAXS online Administrator will have online access to:

  • File tax returns, including XML data files for Fuel Tax, Gasoline Tax and Tobacco Tax, for your Ontario business tax accounts
  • Set up Pre-authorized Debit (PAD) agreements using Canadian bank accounts (to make your tax payments)
  • Provide access to employees and representatives to use ONT-TAXS online on behalf of your business
  • Request changes to your business' legal name, head office address and mailing address
  • Make tax payments through any of the PAD agreements that the Administrator has set up
  • Request refunds of overpayment of tax
  • View up to four years of history for your Ontario business tax account(s) including Debt Retirement Charge and Gross Revenue Charge
  • Update your business address and trade name
  • Communicate electronically with the ministry using the Messages feature
  • View PDF copies of most correspondence issued to your business from the ministry

Your ONT-TAXS online Administrator also controls which accounts with the ministry and online features your employees or representatives can access. Your ONT-TAXS online Administrator can provide employees or representatives with access to:

  • File tax returns for your Ontario business tax accounts
  • Make tax payments through any of the PAD agreements that the ONT-TAXS online Administrator has set up
  • Request refunds for overpayment of tax
  • View up to four years of history for your Ontario business tax account(s)
  • Update your business address and trade name or,
  • Communicate electronically with the ministry using the Messages feature

Employees and representatives authorized to use ONT-TAXS online will also be authorized to conduct business by mail or telephone with the ministry on behalf of your business. This authorization is limited to the same level of access that was assigned to them in ONT-TAXS online.
